1 of 50
Vehicle Description A very well preserved original condition 1959 Chrysler 300E, original engine matching 413 cubic inch Golden Lion V8 putting out 380 Horsepower with a Torqueflight 3 Speed automatic push button transmission.
Features include power windows, power seats, power steering, and power brakes.
The engineering on the 413 cubic inch power plant was revolutionary for its day and still provides a very enjoyable driving experience with extraordinary power for an 18 foot sled.
Fuel is managed by two Carter AFB 4 barrel carburetors.
These legendary letter cars are regarded by many as some of the best engineering in automotive history.
Only 550 of these Letter E sedans were produced in 1959 with likely less than 250 exist today.
Overall condition of the vehicle is excellent with chrome in fine condition and paint holding up very well for a better than 20 year old repaint.
There are a few areas of minor orange peel, but for the most part the paint is quite high quality.
The vehicle has been garage in climate control ed conditions most of its life.
The undercarriage is clean and has been detailed as well as the engine bay.
Prior to my purchasing the vehicle in late 2021 the vehicle had been owned by Robert Winkler of Tigard, Oregon for over 40 years.
I purchased the vehicle from on Oregon dealer Matthew's Memory Lane Motors that had purchased the vehicle from Mr.
Wnklers widow.
I have many of Mr.
Winklers service records including overall engine overhaul and refurbishment of the interior seats and carpeting.
The interior shows quite well.
There are a few minor cracks in the dash over speedometer.
All gauges work well and I lubricated speedometer cable to eliminate needle bounce.
Under my care I replaced a carburetor choke element, replaced front wheel cylinders, brakes and shoes and front wheel seals, also replaced front upper control arm bushings, also bleeded brakes, and serviced brake lights.
I also installed an electric fuel pump which eliminated tough starting problems.
This vehicle is now in great condition and provides a wonderful driving experience.
I entered it in the Missellwood Concourse D'Elegance in Beverly Massachusetts last year and won a Missellwood Award for the 1950-1959 Class.
The vehicle also participated in a 60 mile tour around Cape Ann and performed flawlessly.
Based upon records I have the vehicle has 158,000 miles on it, however under the good care and maintenance of Mr.
Winkler and myself this vehicle is a treasure to be preserved and enjoyed.
